FAQ

ProdBIM offers a comprehensive suite of services, which can be divided for simplification in two groups.

On one hand, the ProdBIM platform for manufacturers, including a PIM portal to create, structure, and manage BIM objects and related digital assets centrally. The platform allows also to perform EPREL declarations and publish on the ProdBIM website. We have tailored packages to meet the specific needs of manufacturers, providing flexibility and scalability.

On the other hand, the ProdBIM website and its product engine for engineers, designers, or BIM users.
The scheme below resumes the features of the ProdBIM platform for manufacturers :

For specific export requests, large number of products or other specific needs we also provide adaptative offers on demand. Don't hesitate to contact us for more details.

Registering as a manufacturer on ProdBIM is a straightforward process that is taken care by the ProdBIM for you. Simply contact us, we'll align on the required information for registering, and we'll create your account. Once registered, you'll gain access to our powerful platform to start managing and showcasing your HVAC&R products.

For manufacturers that are certified with Eurovent Certita Certification, ProdBIM is offered at no additional costs from the certification contract. When used for non-certified products, ProdBIM is offered on flexible pricing plans tailored to meet the diverse needs of manufacturers. Our pricing is transparent, with options for both small and large-scale operations. You are welcome to contact us to analyze your case together.

To ensure the accuracy and quality of data on ProdBIM, manufacturers are required to adhere to specific data sheet requirements. Data sheets should include comprehensive product information, such as technical specifications, dimensions, performance metrics, and any other relevant details. Our platform provides guidelines and templates to help manufacturers create data sheets that meet industry standards and enhance the user experience for construction professionals. You'll be able to access, import, or export the templates from the ProdBIM platform directly.

BIM (Building Information Modelling) is an intelligent 3D-based model collaborative process that provides information, insight and tools to construction professionals - architects, engineers, etc. -  in order to plan, design, construct and manage buildings and infrastructures more efficiently.

The BIM concept envisages virtual construction of a facility prior to its actual physical construction. This reduces uncertainty, improves safety, overcomes problems and simulates and analyses potential impacts.

Simplified overview of BIM use cases through building lifcycle stages

Manufacturers of HVACR equipment find themselves increasingly confronted with BIM, and more and more projects demand the provision of BIM objects.

ProdBIM is committed to maintaining high-quality BIM objects. We employ stringent standards and guidelines to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the BIM objects available on our platform.

There are 2 main domains to define and also to check a BIM object :

   1 - GEOMETRY

→ As light as possible.

Too heavy BIM model is often one of the main reason why designers can prefer software generic content rather manufacturer's own model.

→ Sufficient geometry precision.

3D should not be as precised as manufacturing CAO but it should keep some useful details, especially for equipements connection or external surface component (eg. grid). Project's BIM Execution Plan may require LODs (Level Of Details).

   2 - PROPERTIES (non-geometric data)

→ Harmonized properties

As much as possible, it's important to use natives properties (from softare or open formats) to really let BIM users get benefits from BIM use. Some values also need to precisely follow referentials (eg. OmniClass category = 23-33 33 11 11 11). Project's BIM Execution Plan may require LODs (Level Of Details).

→ Relevant properties.

As for geometry, BIM object should not have all the information from manufacturer's production database. Whereas, some additional information are useful from marketing, installation and operations traditional documentations.

Remark :
It is also relevant to check behavior of BIM model. For native format (eg. Revit), there are some best practices to modelize connections, product variant within a family, etc.. For open formats (eg. IFC), use of common data schema is preferable to allow interoperability - multi software collaboration - .

EPREL (European Product Database for Energy Labeling) is a European Union database for energy labeling. The roots of EPREL can be traced back to the European Union’s (EU's) proactive stance on environmental conservation. Over the years, the EU’s Energy-Related Products (ErP) directive has undergone refinements, leading to the establishment of EPREL in 2019. For consumers, EPREL is a robust database serving as a comprehensive record of energy-related product information, aiding them in making informed product choices. For manufacturers, EPREL is a centralised repository for compliance and transparency in the HVAC-R industry.

The EPREL portal functions as a digital archive, where manufacturers are mandated to register detailed information about their energy-related products. Each product must be meticulously documented, including:

  • Energy efficiency metrics
  • Technical specifications
  • Compliance data.

This level of transparency ensures that consumers have access to accurate information, fostering trust in the marketplace. ProdBIM offers a workflow within the platform to manage EPREL requests begin to end, making it easier for manufacturers to undergo the product declaration process.

The following steps will guide you through search features available on this website.

1- From "FIND PRODUCT" tab, you arrive on the Search page, split in 3 sections :

Remark : We initially filter on "PRODBIM" as a brand to have non-branded documentation. As a result, you will get all generic model available on the platform.

2- You can then select a category, potentially other filters from general information.

The onboarding can be as quick as a same-day process. The account can be up and running straight away starting with a portion of manufacturers' product catalogs or the entire catalog, depending on the size and scope of it.

First step is to contact us, once aligned, we'll share a DocuSign with a recap of the offer and launch your account.

Absolutely! ProdBIM empowers manufacturers with real-time data management capabilities. Manufacturers can seamlessly update product information, specifications, and other relevant details to ensure that construction professionals always have access to the most accurate and up-to-date information.

If using it with certified products, there is no need to import files in the platform: your certified product data will be adsorbed by ECC directly.

If you will use ProdBIM with non-certified data, you can import them in a variety of methods, from manual upload to API connections. Contact us to explore further on the topic.
